This month is made busy by the necessity for new summer dresses for the oldest of my little flock, so from our stash of odds and ends we pulled some charming and agreeable fabrics and then designed dresses to suit.

In order of left to right there are: the Peasant Dress, the "Molly Mod" dress (for no reason other than that the nams sounds about right for its mid-century motifs, and lastly the "Boardwalk Dress", so named because when I looked at the sketch, and those summery stars and stripes I continually saw in my head nostalgic glimpses of walks beside the sea under a balmy summer sunset, perhaps with popsicles (rocket-pops!?) in hand.

In true form, I began with the last; boardwalk absolutely had to be completed before the 4th of July (Yes, I know we have a month and a half still) and you just never know what will come in the way of timely project execution!

did the sache end up a bit longer than I meant for it to be? Yes. But oldest child is not inclined to have it shortened. Something about it being more ladylike to have a longer sash? What do I know of these things?

And now we're quite caught up! I am currently about a third of the way through making the Molly Mod, those scallops were a bit more troublesome to draft than I anticipated, but hopefully the finished product won't be telling on me!
